Duso, MBA joined the Small Business Administration (SBA) in 2013 as a business counselor for the Region X Veteran’s Business Outreach Center (VBOC), where she is now the Director. Duso was born on Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, NM and grew up in a military family. She has a passion for the military community and loves doing her part to serve those who served our country.
Prior to joining the VBOC Duso worked in the private sector building her resume. Her business experience is extensive; having worked for Fortune 500 Companies for over a decade. Her resume includes management and business analysis positions with Seattle local Starbucks Coffee and Whole Foods Market. She has been able to see first-hand the advantages of access to sophisticated operations, financial analysis, and a management support team.
Duso received her Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Project Management and is currently a Doctoral candidate in Business Administration. Before making it her career, Duso studied entrepreneurship and small business management as a hobby. She became the go-to person among her friends for questions related to business planning and financing.
Duso believes that small businesses are the heart of the American economy. She grew up in a small Texas town, where many of her friends and neighbors were small business owners. In 2010 her mother became Duso’s first client when she invested her retirement fund to start a small retail shop. Having parents as small business owners, Duso has seen personally how difficult small businesses have it trying to compete in the competitive market with bigger players. Her personal mission as a business service provider is to work to bring access to these same advantages to Main Street America’s small businesses.
